Lionel Messi agrees new Barcelona deal

Argentinian football superstar Lionel Messi has agreed a contract extension with Barcelona which will keep him at the club until 2021.
The 30-year-old, who recently got married to his childhood girlfriend Antonela Roccuzzo, joined Barca at the age of 13, and has helped the club to several trophies.


Messi will sign the said deal when he returns to training from pre-season.
“The club is very happy with the renewal and commitment of Messi, the best player in history,” said the La Liga giant.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has scored a club-record 507 goals in 583 matches since his competitive debut in 2004, and is also La Liga’s record scorer on 349 goals.
In a statement, Barca added Messi has “led the team to an era of extraordinary success, the likes of which has never been seen in world football.”
The forward’s previous deal was to expire in 2018, but has now been extended by three years, when he will be 34 years old.
